CHANGE IS GOOD. DIY CHANGE, EVEN BETTER! 5 DO-IT-YOURSELF HOME DECOR TIPS.

Many people, need a change of atmosphere every once in a while, and some do this by changing the look of their home interiors. But this process can turn out to be heavy on our pockets and eventually leads to too much stuff at home. Here are 5 cheap, easy yet beautiful hacks to using household stuff to create appealing home decor.

COUNTRY CURTAIN RINGS
Who needs boring regular old rings when you can make your own out of jute or coir ropes to give your home that rustic country charm.

  • Cut the ropes into equal lengths
  • Put each piece through one ring in the curtain and tie a knot
  • Repeat this with all the rings and voila!

GEOMETRIC PATTERNS
Ever wanted art on your walls but didn’t have the budget/time for it? The solution is simple – Masking Tape. Just hit the nearest stationery shop and buy masking tapes of various colors. That’s it, that’s all you need for this one (unless you don’t already have scissors, you will need those too).

  • Pick your favorite geometric patterns and mark vertices (or corners) with a pencil on the wall
  • Using the masking tape connect the vertices.
  • If you wish to, use a differently colored masking tape to fill the shapes with lines.
  • See how pretty it looks.

LIT UP CURTAINS
This one is especially good for the people who have extra hooks in their ceiling. These are just decorative drapes that add a little accent lighting and fairytale like charm to your home.

  • Find an old preferably light colored curtain or cloth which you can fashion into a curtain.
  • Put it to a big metal/wooden ring. (hint: you can use the wooden rings from embroidery kits)
  • Hang the curtain in a conical shape by tying the ring to the ceiling hook using rope.
  • Hang fairy lights running along the length within the conical curtain.
  • Plug in and turn on the lights.

BOOKS = ART
This one is the easiest tip for those who have a collection of books in their shelves. I don’t even need bullet points to explain this one. Just rearrange your book in the shelf according to color instead of size or alphabet and watch them turn into art.

REMEMBER CDs
We rarely use CDs anymore today in the world of reusable and cloud storage media. Even though we don’t need the discs anymore we definitely can use their cases. Their size makes them the perfect DIY frames for a gallery grid on your wall.

  • Find 9 or as many CD cases as you need.
  • Replace the cover within with art or images (hint: You can either print photographs or use images cut out from old calendars)
  • Stick them to the wall near a table or a shelf in a grid or any pattern you like
  • Change images as and when you please.
  • Plug in and turn on the lights.
